Ocober, 2010: Heron Creek Community Foundation
A new Community Foundation has been formed within the Heron Creek Golf and Country Club. The mission of the Foundation is to support qualified charitable organizations that serve the citizens of North Port.
Membership in the Foundation will be open to all current and former residents of Heron Creek as well as all non-resident members of the Heron Creek Golf and Country Club. Membership applications were mailed to all residents this summer. Fund raising events are currently being planned for later this year and early next year.
The Heron Creek Community Foundation will partner with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. This will enable us to take advantage of their expertise and experience.

December 1, 2009: Jerry Moore Named Heron Creek’s General Manager
Dr. Hans-Jurgen Reichardt, the Developer of Heron Creek, is pleased to announce the appontment of Jerry Moore as the General Manager / COO of the Heron Creek Golf & Country Club, effective December 1st. Jerry replaces Paul Barone, Heron Creek’s GM for the past nine years, who accepted a similar position in Sarasota.
Jerry was selected from a large group of qualified applicants and brings to Heron Creek many years of experience in the golf and country club industry. Jerry is originally from Nashville, Tennessee and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University, where he was also a pitcher on the varsity baseball team. He started in the golf business in 1984, working as a Golf Professional at Private Clubs. He was elected to PGA Membership in 1987 while working at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. His first General Manager position was at a Private, Member Owned Club in Kentucky.
In 1989, he went to work for ClubCorp where he spent the next ten years as a Manager, Regional Manager and ultimately a Regional Vice President, overseeing the operation of 25 Clubs in the Southeastern United States. Jerry then worked for the Doral Golf Division of Meristar Hotels and Resorts, the United Golf Group, and Fore Golf Services in the capacity of Vice President. His most recent assignment was at The Bayou Club and Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club in St. Petersburg, as the General Manager for both Clubs. Over the course of his career, he has managed over 70 clubs, from 9-hole municipal golf courses, to private and semi-private country clubs, and to resorts with as many as 63 holes.
Jerry lives in Sarasota with his wife, Gina, and 13 year-old son, Alex.

July 1, 2009: Creek 9 Course Maintenance
Course maintenance procedures are being completed throughout the golf course. Here are some photos of work being done on the Creek 9. The Creek has been closed temporarily to allow extensive work to be performed, and it should reopen for Labor Day Weekend, weather permitting.

June 16, 2009: Peggy Kirsch Joins Heron Creek’s Golf Professional Teaching Staff
Heron Creek Golf & Country Club is proud to announce the addition of Peggy Kirsch to the staff of teaching professionals at Heron Creek. A former player on the LPGA Tour, she is currently a member of the LPGA Teaching Division. Peggy brings a wealth of teaching experience with her, including the last eight years at nearby Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club where she worked with some of the area's top amateur players as well as making golf enjoyable for many others.
Peggy's knowledge of what it takes to be a successful golfer, the physical, the technical and the proper mental approach, is second to none, and she has a unique and easy-going teaching style that makes learning the game and playing it fun for all of her students.
A native of Duluth, MN and a 1979 collegiate All-American at the University of Alabama, Peggy has played in nine U.S. Women's Open Championships. She once shared the LPGA Tour record score of 28 for nine holes with Pat Bradley and Annika Sorenstam, among others.
Peggy joins Heron Creek's Director of Golf Chris Trottier and Assistant Golf Professional Bobby Hummel offering golf instruction at Heron Creek. Peggy is available for private lessons beginning Tuesday, June 16th.

November 10, 2006: Heron Creek Golf & Country
Club offers Platinum Membership Deposit Interest-Free Financing
Option
Heron Creek Golf & Country Club has initiated a new deposit
payment option for those purchasing a Platinum Membership in
the Club. New Platinum Members are being offered the option of
paying their Membership Deposit in installments over a five-year
period, interest-free. The $25,000 Platinum Membership Initiation
Deposit would be paid in five installments of $5,000.00 each,
the first of which is due at the contract signing. Each additional
installment of $5,000.00 is due annually on the contract anniversary
date.
Heron Creek hopes this new, affordable option will attract home
buyers as well as local golf enthusiasts to this beautiful community
and exceptional golf & country club facility. Heron Creek

June 1, 2006: Heron Creek’s
Golf Digest Rating Increases To 4 1/2 Stars
The Arthur Hills designed 27-Hole championship
golf course at the Heron Creek Golf & County Club has earned the prestigious “4½ Stars” rating
in the seventh edition of Golf Digest’s guidebook, “Places
To Play 2006-2007”. In the two previous editions, Heron
Creek’s rating was “4 Stars”. “Places
To Play” ratings are based upon the personal evaluations
by thousands of readers of the more than eight thousand public-access
golf courses across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the
Caribbean. Course ratings range from one to five (best) stars.
Heron Creek is one of three such highly-rated courses in the
Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee County area. No Florida course earned
a “5 Stars” rating.

December 1, 2005: As The Peak Selling
Season Approaches, Heron Creek Moves Closer To Full Sell-Out
Sales of new homes at Heron Creek Golf & Country Club have
reached a total of 730, representing 86% of the 843 total homes
planned within the gated community. Sales began at Heron Creek
in late 1999. Construction of over 660 homes has been completed
to date. Seven preferred homebuilders have offered new homes
for sale at Heron Creek since it opened, but four have sold out
and have completed construction of homes. The remaining homes
available are single-family designs offered for sale by preferred
builders Nohl Crest Homes, Ryland Homes, and US Home, in the
Fairway Crossings, Creek’s Edge, and Palmetto Lakes neighborhoods,
respectively. All remaining available homes have golf, lake or
preserve views. US Home, with 82, has the largest number available,
and is close to opening its decorator furnished models in Palmetto
Lakes.

November 15, 2005: Ryland
Homes Nears Sell-Out At Heron Creek
Ryland Homes, the highest volume Preferred Builder in the Heron
Creek Golf & Country Club, is approaching sell-out, and has
only 14 unsold single-family homes remaining in the exclusive
Creek’s Edge neighborhood. Ryland commenced sales of patio
homes at Heron Creek in November, 2001. Since that time, it has
sold over 290 patio, executive , and single-family homes in Heron
Creek, the most of any builder. Ryland has built homes in the
Hidden Oaks, Southern Hills, Lakeside Greens, Country Club Cove,
Scrub Jay Glen, Quail Run, and Creek’s Edge neighborhoods.
Ryland’s remaining homes in Creek’s Edge are from
its line of single-family home designs. There are six model plans
from which to choose, with base prices ranging from the mid-$400’s
to the mid-$500’s, including standard homesite. The homes
have living spaces of 2,597 to 3,572 square feet, have 3-car
garages, and the choice of two elevations for each model. All
new homes have golf, lake or preserve views. Ryland Homes’ sales
office in Heron Creek is on Pine Shadow Lane, close to the Heron
Creek Information Center.

Heron Creek’s Richelle Taylor-Harris Becomes President
of North Port Chamber.
Richelle Taylor-Harris, Information Center Manager at the Heron
Creek Golf & Country Club, recently assumed the position
of President, North Port Area Chamber of Commerce. She has been
an active member of the Chamber for five years, and has served
as a Director for three years. The North Port Chamber is a fast-growing
volunteer organization with a current membership of over 500.
The organization provides networking and educational opportunities
for local business people, promotes North Port businesses, and
is involved in many school, civic, and community activities.
The Chamber has a full-time Executive Director and staff, and
is headquartered at 15141 Tamiami Trail.
Richelle came to North Port in 1994, and joined
Heron Creek in 1999 as Administrative Assistant for Construction.
Soon thereafter, she became the Information Center Manager and
opened the Center at 3401 South Sumter Blvd. During her tenure,
there have been 730 new home sales in the Heron Creek community,
and every homebuyer has been welcomed to Heron Creek by Richelle’s
constant smile, positive personality, and energy. Balancing her
job, her volunteer work, and her personal and family time is
a challenge for Richelle, but she has proved that she’s
up to the task. She is a mother of six, ages 3 months to 22 years,
and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Goshen College while
working full-time. Richelle lives in North Port with four children
and her fiancé, Jason.

Continues To Be One Of “America’s 100 Best Master
Planned Communities.
In its July-August 2005 issue, ‘Where To Retire” magazine
revealed its list of “America’s 100 Best Master Planned
Communities.” For the third time in a row - in 2001, 2003
and now 2005 – the Heron Creek Golf & Country Club
has received this prestigious designation.
“Where To Retire” is a nationally
distributed retirement living magazine from Vacation Publications
of Houston. With an average circulation of 220,000, it tells
its readers who’s moving where, and why. To arrive at its
list of “America’s 100 Best”, “Where
To Retire’s” staff evaluated over 400 master-planned
communities across the nation, using criteria including location,
lifestyle, facilities, amenities, social activities, and security.
In a letter to Dr. Hans-Jurgen Reichardt, the
Developer of Heron Creek, R. Alan Fox, Editor & Publisher
of “Where To Retire” wrote: “Your community

May 9, 2005: New Main Clubhouse
Opens.
The new Main Clubhouse at the Heron Creek Golf & Country
Club opened for the first time on Wednesday, May 4th for three
nights of Open House Tours for its Club Members. At least 500
Members took part in the festivities, which included food samplings
from the extensive new menus. That same Wednesday, golfers had
started their rounds at the new Golf Pro Shop and later on enjoyed
their first visit to the Grill Room. Over 300 guests enjoyed
the Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch. The Dining Room will commence
serving dinner Wednesday night, May 11th. The public is welcome.
The new Clubhouse, located on a high point at the end of Heron
Creek Blvd., becomes the focal point of social and golfing activities
at Heron Creek. The elegant structure is the culmination of years
of planning and design and of considerable input from Members.
The Clubhouse is a two-level design encompassing about 21,000
square feet of space. The Upper Level Main Floor, adjacent to
the covered main entry, includes the Dining Room, Private Dining
Room, Grill Room, kitchen, meeting rooms, restrooms, and administrative
offices. Patios and decks adjoin the dining areas. The three
dining areas allow combined seating for over 250 guests. The
Lower Level houses the Golf Pro Shop, Men’s and Ladies’ Restrooms & Locker
Rooms, and golf cart storage.
The Grill Room offers casual luncheon dining every day. The
beautiful bar is the highlight of the room, and there is an adjoining
patio dining area overlooking the Arthur Hills Golf Course. The
Grill Room serves lunch daily from 11 AM to 3 PM. The Dining
Room offers the finest in elegant dining and is beautifully decorated
and comfortably furnished to provide a luxurious dining atmosphere.
A wide assortment of expertly prepared appetizers, entrees, and
desserts is served for dinner Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
evenings from 5:30 to 8 PM. Sunday Brunch is served from 10:30
AM to 2 PM.
